What does it mean to be a BCD student? BCD Students Are... Prepared.
Outstanding faculty, small class size and a rigorous curriculum prepare BCD students for success in any quality high school and beyond.

“Being at BCD helped me realize that I am smart and that I can get good grades. This school gave me confidence that I couldn’t have found at a public school.”– BCD Alumna
Welcome to the Boulder Country Day School! I invite you to explore the website thoroughly to discover the wonderful things that have become part of our school during its twenty year history. As with any reputable school accredited by the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), the heart and soul of the BCD experience can be understood by reviewing our mission statement.
Our preschool and early elementary curriculum is a blend of old and new. Many tried and true educational strategies can still be found at our school; however, there is also a healthy blend of best instructional practices that are infused throughout the elementary curriculum. In addition to the core academic classes of Math, Literature, English, Social Studies and Science, all elementary students study a modern foreign language. Also, the study of Latin begins in the fourth grade. Music, art, computer science, and physical education round out our students’ elementary school experience.
The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (MYP) is the basis for our middle school curriculum. We are one of the few stand alone MYP programs in the country. As an IB school, we seek to connect all subject groups: Humanities, Mathematics, Science, Foreign Languages (2), Technology, Fine Arts, and Physical Education in a unique interdisciplinary way. Along with the core academic pieces of the IB program, our middle school students are expected to be responsible young adults by participating in community service, studying health and social education, developing their study skills, and seeking to discover their own unique potential. As young leaders, our middle school students are also charged with living and modeling the core values of our school that are outlined in our school motto.
At Boulder Country Day School, children develop their academic skills in a caring environment attuned to their developmental needs. It is truly a place where children have the opportunity to be motivated and inspired to become lifelong learners and productive, responsible citizens. After visiting our website, I hope that you will call to arrange a tour to experience our school first hand.
When you accept this invitation, you will see the magic that is taking place between our dedicated staff and the children they teach and nurture.
Sincerely,
Michael D. Shields
