  Prior to BCD, I have 6 years of teaching experience in numerous grades and settings within Physical Education. I developed my passion for teaching Physical Education while at Oklahoma State University, earning a bachelors in Physical Education and a minor in Coaching. During my time at OSU, I was fortunate to be a member of the Cross Country and Track teams throughout my collegiate career, with the highlight of winning the NCAA D1 team title in Cross Country in 2012.  I still pursue my running goals today and qualified for the 2020 and 2024 US Olympic Marathon Trials. Running and fitness in general have always been a passion of mine and I am thrilled to be able to share that knowledge with the youth here at BCD.

  Prior to working at BCD, I taught Art in North Carolina for five years where I was selected Teacher of the Year at Piney Grove Elementary K-5. I’ve taught Sculpture, Drawing, Painting, and Art History to gifted artists at Northwest Arkansas Academy of Fine Arts High School. At the University of Arkansas, I was a standout athlete in Cross Country and Track earning seven All American honors helping my team win multiple SEC titles, and in my final year I competed at the Olympic Track and Field Trials! I grew up in Dallas, Texas and was a high school All-American and state champion in the mile run. When I am not teaching, I love to paint, create illustrations, and visit Art Museums. My favorite thing to do besides teaching and making art is being outside! I love running, walking, hiking, biking, and spending time with my family, friends, and my two dogs.

  I am a musician and educator originally from Anchorage, Alaska. Prior to joining the BCD faculty in 2019, I taught music privately across the Front Range, was the program director of El Sistema Colorado’s Denver Community Music Academy, and taught collegiate music courses through the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Outside of BCD, I work as a professional flutist. I am the principal flutist of the Longmont Symphony, second flutist of the Cheyenne Symphony, and I regularly sub with the Colorado Symphony and Boulder Philharmonic. When I'm not teaching or performing, you can find me drinking coffee and spending time with my husband and my two dogs, Penny Lane and Maggie.

  I am a native Spanish speaker originally from Colombia. I grew up loving the mountains and flowers, traveling, I love yoga and mindfulness. I will be teaching your child about the Spanish-speaking culture, and having a lot of fun through games, stories, art and some breathing and movement exercises focusing on learning the language while learning to be present. I graduated with a degree in Social Communications and Journalism from Pontifical Bolivarian University in Medellin, Colombia. I have been working for 5 years in early childhood education in different after school Spanish programs in Boulder.

  For the past 15 years I have enjoyed teaching grades 3-5 in the states of Alabama, Texas, Illinois, and Nevada. I really love cooking! I also enjoy reading novels and books about teaching science and exploring new places with my family. I have fun taking my miniature Schnauzer, Topper, to dog parks and trails in Boulder. On the weekends I enjoy spending time walking around Pearl Street and having brunch with family and friends.

  After graduating from The University of Northern Colorado, I began my teaching career in Loveland, Colorado.  I taught Elementary Physical Education for two years prior to joining the BCD community and I am extremely lucky to be able to teach students a variety of ways to have fun while leading healthy and active lives.  Being a Colorado native, I enjoy spending time in the mountains and appreciating all of the natural beauty this state has to offer.  When I am not teaching you can find me snowboarding at Winter Park, learning some new tricks on my wakeboard, biking, hiking, watching the Green Bay Packers, or spending time with my family, friends and spunky dog, Jane.

  I am a singer, bass player, and educator, born and raised on the western slope of Colorado. I am the Vocal Music Director and Arts Coordinator at BCD, and enjoy teaching PS-8 music classes, directing the Bulldog Singers and Spotlight Singers, and directing musicals for K-2, upper ES, and the middle school.

  
  I have performed as a vocal soloist with Opera Fort Collins, Loveland Opera, Boulder Opera, Central City Opera, Ars Nova, Boulder Chorale, Kutandara, Opera Classica Europa, UNC Opera Theatre, and as a church musician. As a bass player, I have worked with bands, singer-songwriters, ensembles, and theatrical productions throughout the Colorado region and beyond. I currently perform with the original rock band, Mackenzie Rae & Buckshot Moon.

  
  I enjoy working with musicians of all ages and skill levels. Helping students to discover their voice, interests, and passion is at the heart of my teaching. When I am not teaching or performing, I enjoy running, cycling, reading, coffee, records, going to live concerts, and spending time with my family and friends.
